RhythOm Sardinia

Why Does it work..?

The Jewel of the Mediterranean, the Costa Smeralda region of Sardinia is breath-taking...

The Incredible Beauty of the Surrounding Country-side, the Guaranteed Sunshine

and the Turquoise-blue sea, alone, make for the most perfect of environments to establish a peaceful and relaxed nature. Once you have established your calm & composed state of 'being', the natural process of learning and embodiment are greatly enhanced!

We need only to add 'like-minded' and life-loving people with the willingness to 'let-go' and be a part of the daily devotion of practice.

Yoga and West African Drumming are best practiced with and by making a subtle switch of the Mind - changing from the conscious and calculated way of taking action and following our paths to a mind-state of detachment from thought and instead, tuning in to our intuition or sub-conscious. Working from the Body-Mind instead of the Head-Mind and taking intuitive action, based on Feeling, not thinking.

When you join us for our RhythOm Holiday Experiences you will enjoy Daily Yoga by the Sea and opposite the Island of Tavolara + beautiful white sand beaches with turquoise sea, daily Drumming Workshop + plenty of time to explore and enjoy the area and the peace.

Our retreats work for the following reasons;

  • RhythOm's Charismatic and Fun World-Class Yoga and Drumming Teachers Combine their Proven Systems and Methods with Continuity for Unparalelled results

  • Djembe Drums & Yoga Mats Provided (In Sardinia!)

  • Djembe Drums for Sale

  • Choice of 1, 2 or 3 Bedroom Villas - Near the Sea or near the Restaurant + Pool

  • Full Board - Includes Villa / Room + Breakfast & Dinner

  • Excellent Local Bus Service to San Teodoro or other local towns

  • Sunshine, Sea and the Beautiful Countryside without commercial advertising and without large Hotels near the beaches

Why Tone Slap Bass..?

Each of the 3 Primary Tones have specific hand formations and positions on which to strike the Djembe.

When you can produce the correct sounds with the 3 basic Tones, you must begin to learn to how to play the Tone, Slap and Bass together, in rhythm arrangements.

With this knowledge and ability, in producing the correct sounds, we could say that we only need rhythm arrangements and patterns to play the drum, authentically. But this is rarely true..

Many people who are new to Drumming and the Djembe will often remark  "I couldn't play a drum because I have no rhythm.." which seems to be an 'automatic' response and reaction of 'people'.

THE TRUTH of this statement is that People DO HAVE a natural sense of rhythm...or we could not walk in a straight line!

People, especially from the West, tend to lack the sense of TEMPO! and..this is quite easily confused as 'rhythm' by people, through a lack of musical knowledge and experience.

Originating in the Training schools of the African Ballet; the Djoliba enter.. Drum Meditation..!

We teach and prepare our guests with the belief that 'All is Possible'. This means, when the Tone, Slap & Bass are practiced effectively and in many different combinations, sometimes leading from the left and sometimes from the right - And always 'in TEMPO' - we create all possibilities in percussion.

Meditation Technique patterns are played after first ensuring your body is 'ready' and maintains a good posture. The next requirement is only to relax...

There are many combinations of Technique patterns as well as ROOTS technique that will be taught and practiced every day in our Meditation Technique session. The power of this system never fails to produce incredible results.

As with all musical instruments, the first place to start learning and mastering the Djembe is with the way to make the drum 'speak'.

In order to produce clear and inspiring rhythm and music we must learn the 3 Primary Tones of the Djembe - The Open Tone, The Slap and The Bass.
